We are excited to announce that O’Dell Engineering Civil Engineer Yushin Imura was named one of The Modesto Bee’s 20 Under 40 Class of 2017!

Out of many submissions, Mr. Imura was selected to be a member of this class of local rising stars. In April, the Modesto Bee solicited nominations for outstanding emerging leaders who have not only achieved professional success, but have demonstrated a passion for enhancing our local community.

Mr. Imura holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from San Jose State University. He relocated to the Central Valley in 2012 and began working for Modesto-based civil engineering firm O’Dell Engineering where he obtained his License as a Registered Civil Engineer in 2014. Now, with over 10 years of experience in civil engineering, land development, 3D laser scanning, land surveying, and GIS, Mr. Imura has provided professional design services for multi-million dollar residential, commercial, institutional, and public construction projects. Notable projects include the California High-Speed Rail and one of the largest subdivision projects in California called River Islands, a 4,800 acre residential and commercial development in Lathrop, CA.

Mr. Imura’s interest in the engineering profession ultimately stemmed from his love of design and desire to improve the quality of life for community residents. In his own words, “Civil Engineering – you are engineering for the public. You’re responsible for the safety of everyday people and that’s what I really like about it.” Yushin transfers his passion to improve the community through design into his work ethic at O’Dell Engineering. He regularly receives high praise from clients for his exemplary service and work products.

In addition to the community improvement projects that Mr. Imura designs at O’Dell Engineering, he also spends a great deal of time giving back to the community through other avenues. In particular, he has a passion for mentoring and inspiring children to pursue a higher education. Throughout his life, he has seen the positive effects of higher education, and respectively, the negative effects of a lack thereof. He believes that if children grow up with a positive influence and a passion for education, they will have more opportunities in life to become successful. In an attempt to enact positive change in an as many children’s lives as possible, he has been involved with a variety of organizations and programs including the Ultimate Math Challenge, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Sierra Vista Cares, and the Modesto Engineers Club.

Mr. Imura is a leader in the field of civil engineering, in the community of Modesto, and here at O’Dell! We are so proud to have him as a part of the O’Dell team!

The Modesto Bee’s 20 Under 40 Class of 2017 members will be honored at an event on Thursday evening at the Gallo Center at 6:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase at the Gallo Center’s box office.
