Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is integral to virtually every constructed project and is the cornerstone discipline at O’Dell Engineering. The department is led by Registered Civil Engineers who direct the efforts of our highly experienced engineers and other professionals. By involving other in-house professionals including planners, surveyors, and landscape architects in all phases and aspects of projects, we help our clients realize savings of time and money. Design is streamlined, and delays and rework are minimized, as a result of efficient communication channels and enhanced information sharing.

The civil engineering department at O’Dell Engineering offers a broad range of services including:

Infrastructure Studies
Our civil engineers provide analysis for individual utilities, such as sewer, water, and storm drainage. Studies often include identifying deficiencies of existing systems and preparing recommendations for improvements.

Utility Master Plans
Utility master plans frequently involve multiple parcels and ownerships and are carefully coordinated and phased to maximize feasibility. The master plans include essential utilities, land uses, and circulation elements. In addition, details such as sizing and location of improvements, specifications, cost analysis may be included.

Transportation Systems
Our clients benefit from our multi-discipline approach to transportation design. Modern transportation systems must recognize a full range of uses including motor vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian in their design. O’Dell Engineering has extensive experience working with our clients to develop street classifications, intersection geometrics, bike path corridors, and specialized pedestrian elements.

Feasibility Analyses
Whether the project is a simple one dimensional analysis, or an expansive city wide review, an early, accurate understanding of costs is critical. A feasibility study helps to determine a project’s viability and aids owners and agencies in making an informed judgment about timing and scope of a project.

Erosion Control & Water Quality Plans
As storm water legislation increases in complexity, so does the potential exposure for owners and builders. Our civil engineers have a thorough working knowledge of current agency requirements for erosion control and water quality. Our Erosion Control Plans and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans are prepared to protect both water quality and our clients.

Construction Documents
Our experienced civil engineers prepare high quality construction documents for all manner of projects, large and small. Each project receives a thorough survey, careful design and checking, and review for constructability. Clients benefit by having accurate plans, and estimates of quantities and costs.
