3D Laser Scanning allows as-builts and structural analysis of buildings under construction in ways that were not previously economically feasible. Scanning was used on this structure during construction to verify concrete placement of the elevated slab on metal deck. Traditional floor flatness testing was performed and the floor passed with a very high score; however this testing did not reveal significant deflection in the center of some structural bays that 3D laser scanning made easily apparent. The results of scanning were utilized to evaluate bracing methods and enhance the quality of future floors being poured on higher stories.
